Frequently Asked Questions

  • There are many, many definitions of yoga. I like to define yoga as “the connection of the body and the mind through the breath”. Yoga does not need to be on a yoga mat: whenever you find that mind-body connection through your breath, you are doing yoga. (Hint: mountain biking is yoga!)

  • MTB Yogi is a no-fuss yoga program that is approachable and relatable designed for mountain bikers, by a mountain biker.
Agnès created MTB Yogi for mountain bikers who are interested in doing yoga to enhance their riding performance, cross-train, and relieve some of the aches and pains that mountain biking can cause.

  • MTB Yogi is for mountain bikers wanting to enhance their riding performance through improved mobility, flexibility, balance, strength, mental focus, body awareness and faster recovery – regardless of their familiarity with yoga, or how flexible they are. No yoga experience necessary!

If you already have a yoga practice, MTB Yogi’s functional, targeted classes will be a great complement.

  • Absolutely not! MTB Yogi is also great for desk dwellers, people who drive a lot, cyclists in general, and even dirt bikers!

  • MTB Yogi is different from other yoga for cyclists or yoga for mountain bikers because Agnès explains how the yoga poses and exercises demonstrated will benefit mountain bikers. As she is a mountain biker herself, she can relate exercises and poses with “real” mountain biking situations.

  • The MTB Yogi program will help enhance your riding performance and improve your recovery time.

Here are some of Agnès’s favorite reasons to do yoga:

    • Counter muscle imbalance due to sustained hunched forward position.

    • Gain flexibility. The more flexible your body, the more range of motion you will have on the bike.

    • Improve balance. Better balance will help with riding slow technical sections, uphill and downhill.

    • Enhance proprioception. In other words, you’ll have better body-awareness: you will know where your body is in relation to the bike and to the trail, and will, in turn, know where to move your body accordingly.

    • Strengthen deep core muscles, which protect your low back and make your hands light on the handlebars.

    • Help decrease arm pump.

    • Speed up recovery by decreasing muscle soreness.

    • Enhance mind-body connection.

    • Enhance mental focus.

So basically, yoga is magic and you should do it! Ha 😉
